Avoiding Plagiarism

Part of having good research habits is keeping track of where you find information.

It's easy to do and doesn't take a lot of your time. Here are some tips:

Book -- in addition to copying the information in the book, make a copy of the copyright page

Article -- keep the printout or copy of the article and write the journal, issue, volume, and year on the copy.

Web source -- print out a copy of the page. That will contain the date of access which you'll need for some bibliographic citation styles. Also, pages change, so you need to know exactly what your site said.
