E-books

A list of selected e-book sources available at UAB follows. Many e-books available from Sterne Library may be accessed by searching Sterne's Library Catalog. Some of the e-book platforms listed below contain e-books, as well as other types of resources [i.e., journals, newspapers, pamphlets, etc.]. A list of other databases available through Sterne Library may be accessed by selecting the link entitled Databases.

Current UAB students, faculty and staff may access all e-books on-campus and off-campus. A BlazerID and password are required for off-campus access. If you encounter any problems accessing these e-books, please report it to us.

APA PsycBooks
A collection of e-book titles that are published by the American Psychological Association.

eBook Collection (EBSCOhost)
The eBook Collection on the EBSCOhost platform is the new site for the NetLibrary e-book collection. These e-books may be checked out for a maximum of 7 days, read online using an Internet browser or downloaded for reading on an e-book reader. Ebrary
A growing collection of e-books in a variety of subject areas; e-books may be viewed using any Internet browser.

EEBO [Early English Books Online]
A collection of early e-book titles that are listed in Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue, Wing's Short-Title Catalogue, and the Thomason Tracts. The coverage includes titles published from 1473-1700. For a social networking resource for this collection see EEBO Interactions.

Gale Virtual Reference Library
A collection of encyclopedias, scholarly publications and specialized reference sources that can be used for multidisciplinary research.

Google Book Search
An open-access discovery tool that provides full text of many public-domain [no longer under copyright] books that have been digitized with links out that show whether the title is held at Sterne Library.

Literature Criticism Online
A database of fully searchable electronic editions of Contemporary Literary Criticism, Drama Criticism, Poetry Criticism, Short Story Criticism, and Something about the Author.

Oxford Handbooks Online
A collection of reference titles, published by Oxford University Press, in subject areas including business and management, philosophy, political science, and religion.

Oxford Reference Online Premium
A collection of reference works, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and scholarly publications in more than 20 subjects published by Oxford University Press.

Project Gutenberg
A collection of e-books that are no longer in copyright. E-books are free to download or read online.

SpringerLink
A database that contains both e-journals and e-books. Subject areas of e-books include: computer science, biomedical and life science, business, behavioral sciences, and earth and environmental science.

Synthesis Lectures on Biomedical Engineering
A collection of lectures published by Morgan & Claypool on topics including: biochemical, biomaterials, biomechanics, bioinstrumentation, physiological modeling, biosignal processing, bioinformatics, biocomplexity, medical and molecular imaging, rehabilitation engineering, biomimetic nano-electrokinetics, biosensors, biotechnology, clinical engineering, biomedical devices, drug discovery and delivery systems, tissue engineering, proteomics, functional genomics, molecular and cellular engineering.

Wiley Online Library
An online research library that contains both e-journals and e-books in the areas of engineering, science, business and education.
