|Addition to the Proust Collection|
Three rare pieces have been donated to the Library's Marcel Proust Collection. Marcel Proust (1871-1922) is a famous French writer, and the Library's Proust Collection is among the most extensive in the world. The pieces are a generous gift from Ms. Marilyn Mitchell Gordon of St. Louis, Missouri. They include an inscribed photograph of Proust seated on a divan; a telegram from him dated September 1, 1922; and an autographed copy of Du cote de chez Swann (Swann's Way), which is the first part of his classic novel A la recherche du temps perdu (Remembrance of Things Past).
The Library's Proust Collection has been featured in Directions, the Library's newsletter (Spring 2002, Fall 2000, and Spring 2000).
